This project involved the takeover and successful completion of a previously underperforming federal design-build effort, consisting of six Conestoga log cabins and associated site infrastructure improvements on a constrained site adjacent to an active public boat ramp. To minimize disruption during peak usage periods, construction activities were strategically scheduled across four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday.

The scope included completing critical building systems and addressing outstanding deficiencies to deliver fully operational and code-compliant cabins. Key building improvements included installation of a wireless fire alarm system capable of communicating with the local fire department, completion of interior punch list items such as electrical connections, door and hardware corrections, and replacement of non-compliant wood railing components. Additional work included refinishing cabin interior floors, resolving water intrusion issues, and pressure washing and re-staining all cabin exteriors to ensure durability and a cohesive final appearance.

Civil site improvements began with selective demolition, tree removal, and regrading of the 0.97-acre site to establish proper drainage. Enhancements included installation of a new concrete headwall for stormwater management, storm drainage structures and piping, and construction of rock-lined swales. Structural elements featured cast-in-place concrete and segmental block retaining walls, along with aggregate drive surfaces and parking areas. Additional improvements included installation of new concrete steps and sidewalks, guardrails and handrails, and final site restoration with topsoil, sod, and seed. The project was delivered as a fully functional and cohesive development, meeting operational requirements while improving long-term performance and site resilience.
